"The First Christians"
Available from Zola Levitt
Ministries
This series of 9 half-hour episodes explains various aspects of the lives
of the first believers in Jesus, most of whom were Jewish and lived in Israel.
Each episode considers a particular aspect of life in First Century Israel,
such as "Government," "Religion," "Agriculture,"
"The Home," etc. The producers of this series went to great effort
to capture the look, feeling, and even sound, of the period. Most of the
series was filmed on location in Israel in authentic re-creations of first
century sites. Period clothing is used, Hebrew is spoken in some scenes,
and an attempt was made to reproduce the sound of First Century music.
This series is suitable for individual, small group, or larger class study.
A small men's group I meet with has interspersed episodes with our study
of the Gospel of John, and the series has added to the depth of our understanding
about the historical and cultural background of this Gospel.
